Copyright and Terms of Use

You will not use Drainspotting to violate anyone's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights. By submitting material to Drainspotting, you are representing that you are the owner of the material, or are making your submission with the express consent of the owner. Submitting material that is the property of another, without the consent of its owner, is not only a violation of this agreement, but may also subject you to legal liability for infringement of copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights.

Submission of material to Drainspotting does not transfer the copyright to that material to Drainspotting. However, by submitting the material, you, or the copyright holder in case you are acting for another, grant Drainspotting a perpetual non-exclusive world-wide royalty-free license to modify, publish and reproduce that material for the purpose of operating, displaying, distributing and promoting Drainspotting. However, Drainspotting will not use your materials without attributing them to you, without your agreement.

Licensing and the Creative Commons

You may choose to put the images you upload to Drainspotting under a Creative Commons license. You may do this on a per-image basis, or set default terms in your user info. Any photos submitted after setting your default terms will be placed under that license. In order to license images individually, set your default terms to "Copyright" (this is the default) and edit the licensing terms for each image individually.

NOTE: Licensing terms are only editable once, from full copyright (all rights reserved) to a Creative Commons license. Once an image has been given a Creative Commons license, its licensing terms are fixed and cannot be modified. If your default license is other than "Copyright", you will not be able to change the licensing terms of any photos you upload, as they will be automatically placed under the Creative Commons license you chose as your default.

Available licenses other than "all rights reserved" are:

For more information about choosing a Creative Commons license, please see their page on how to make that choice.

Flickr Imports

All photos imported from Flickr are given the Creative Commons license they had on Flickr at the time they were imported. No "All Rights Reserved" photos are ever imported automatically.
